The Solar Charger is an add-on PowerView accessory that provides trickle charging to the battery wand – even in low light and North facing windows. The charger was developed to enhance low light harvesting capabilities, so it is effective in a wide range of light conditions.
The Solar Charger is great for high up or hard to reach windows to extend battery life, or even eliminate the need to recharge manually. The charger is also great for homes that have multiple rechargeable PowerView shades or for non-primary residences, minimizing the need to recharge all of the shades in the home.
Normal rechargeable battery wands are expected to go about 1 year between recharging. Recharging each wand usually takes about 2-3 hours. With the Solar Charger, battery wands are expected to stay charged longer and may possibly not ever need to be manually recharged. Performance may vary depending on use, window light conditions & the size of the shade.
The Solar Charger is 14” long by 2 ¾” wide and can be mounted directly to the glass (preferably) or to the window jam. The charger can be ordered in either black or white color to the interior of the home but is always black to the outside. The charger works with most shade types and can even be ordered for retrofitting Legacy PowerView Rechargeable Battery Wands & the SoftTouch- wand motorized lift system.
The Solar Charger connects directly to the shades’ rechargeable battery wand – so that it can only power one shade at a time. You do not need to have a solar charger for all the PowerView shades in your home, but it will certainly help for any that are high up or hard to reach – such as stairways and entryway tall windows.
